I have an older pc which has options in the bios that allows the pc to
bootup automatically by setting a timer and a date. This means that the
pc would be able to bootup a automatically at a specific time. However
the current intel D845GEBV2 motherboard i am using does not hav such an
option in its bios. I was wondering if it is possible to configure the
motherboard to do this or is there a workaround? Any ideas?

Have you got ACPI enabled in the BIOS and in Windows?

I had an old DOS/W3.1 PS/2 that simply ran on a timer. YMMV on powering down
W/9x systems without a shutdown but my wife has been turning off her W/95 lap
top with the switch for almost 10 years and I have two W98 MP3 players and a
print server that get turned on and off with the switch. Just be sure to set
"autoscan=0" in MSDOS.SYS if you don't want to see scandisk every time you
boot.
