Is my Computer Killing My Devices

Over the past several weeks I've had the following 4 USB devices
mysteriously stop working:
1. NetGear Lan Adaptor, which was under warranty, so I was able to get
replaced.
2. Logitech QuickCam
3. External Hard Drive
4. D-Link 4-port hub

I'm clueless why this is happening and all I can think of is that the
computer
(a compaq) is somehow frying my peripherals.

Anybody ever hear of this kind of thing happening?
