View Full Version : System freezes after IDE devices detection - no message
Hi,
Upon starting my PC, I have the normal POST sequence: Memory, PNP Init, IDE
detection. Everything is fine, all my IDE units are correctly detected.
Then the PC hangs. No error message at all.
The only thing unusual is the diskette drive led which stay on.
I can enter in the BIOS whithou any problem.
Suspecting a faulty drive or cable, I disconnected it completely (data and
power) and changed the BIOS drive A settings to "None", but no avail.
My boot order is : CD-ROM, Hard Disk, Diskette drive, Network. If I
insert a bootable CD, it does the same thing..
Any suggestion on what to do next ?
Thanks
Case closed..
I just verify that all my cards were properly inserted and all my cables
properly connected.
I didn't find any that was loose, but on the next start up, everything was
fine..
:-)

Very good!
So something was probably just a bit out of alignment. I have seen
strange behaviour when an AGP video card was not quite fully inserted.
Their mounting sucks, especially at the end away from the back side
of the computer. Many boards have an additional safety-catch there
because of that problem.
