I'm looking to the group for suggestions in trying to resolve a problem I've
got with a with a Compaq Proliant 1600.

A while back, I managed to break the system IO board - took the gold foil
off one of the pins whilst ramming the board home without noticing a loose
wire being trapped....

I since managed to get another board, although it's of a more recent
revision (0N as opposed to my older board's 0J release - The CPU board is of
rev 0E.). However the machine isn't working. On power up, I get to the first
beep but no keyboard lights, and no video output.

So what have I 've done so far is:

1. Visually checked the backpane for damage, cleaned it, and used a
multi-meter's continuity test to check that there weren't any touching pins
around the location of the originally damaged connector.

2. Placed the RAID card in both Primary & Secondary PCI slots - it's getting
power since the LEDs on the board light up.

3. Switched the processors back to the original 400MHz versions that were in
the machine prior to my upgrading them to 600.

4. Reset NVRAM using the SW provided on the IO board (done many times)

5. Pulled out half the RAM (was populated to 1G)

Though still the machine refuses to start up - so I'm completely stuck.

If you've any suggestions as to what else to try, I'm all eyes... so to
speak.

Thanks in advance,

Steve
