Hi!

I tried the ejection but didn't work either :((

And FS2002 is "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002"

FS2002 works though, because luckily it has 3cds not only one and my
cd-writer can still also read cd-roms and dvds...
Nevertheless it would be very nice if i could solve the cd rom problem...

Best regards,

Valentin

Hmmm I'd try a pin/paperclip and keep trying that hole it should work.
I remember once like a dumb a$$ I put 2 CD's in the tray and closed it
and they were wedged in.
My only hope was to take the drive apart and remove them by hand, which I
did successfully - But it appears your motor may be shot so even that
wouldn't do you much good unless you plan to get a new drive and just
want the CD out.

Hi!

Yes it's similar to that although there is only one CD in there. It seems
somehow I've put in the CD so incorrectly that it fell down and is
completely blocking the drive opening mechanism. If I try to open i hear
some kind of sound which reminds me about that. Hopefully the CD is not
broken...

So...you would recommend removing the CD drive from the computer and trying
to open it as a last possible way of solution?

Best regards,

Valentin

Yes I would.
Seems you have not any other options.
They are not that hard to open you'll need one of the little
screwdrivers sets, and of course just be careful to put it back together
the way you took it apart.

Hi!

I haven't tried to remove the drive yet, but I will try as soon as possible.
Of course, I will remove it without the power being on.

No, i meant using the paper clip trick with the power off.

Hi!

Oh i see.

Well, in the meanwhile I managed to open the CD-Rom-drive (well actually
it's a DVD-ROM but doesn't matter now), with the emergency opening, but with
the cover of the PC open and power off.
Unfortunately, the CD which was in there was broken in two big pieces and
several small. I'm afraid I can't use my DVD-drive any longer, because it
doesn't "recognize" any CD I put in it. It's just as if I never put in a
disc at all :-((

I think trying to get the drive repaired is more expensive than buying a new
one. Anyway, I still got my CD ReWriter drive which can also read CDs, but I
can't play DVDs on Power DVD XP with it because it says "no disc in drive
G:", although the CD (Re)Writer is supposed to be drive G: ...
Well maybe I can set a different drive in the preferences...

Thanks a lot for your help!

CD drive will not read a dvd disk so you will need to get a new dvd drive.

Hi!

It's a miracle: now my DVD-Rom-drive seems to be working again, because the
"busy" light now goes on when I insert a disc and it doesn't open any more
right after I inserted a disc.
The only problem is: I can't install a driver. Upon returning from my
vacation (which starts tomorrow), I will try to open the PC again and find
out which DVD-drive I have in order to download a suitable driver (I only
know that I have a Pioneer drive but not what type), on the homepage of
Pioneer I couldn't find a driver for Windows XP or Windows 2000 (since I'm a
Windows XP Home user I need a XP driver of course).
