View Full Version : Writing Long Filenames to CDR

Hi,

Please could someone tell me if they know of a way to write long
filenames to CDRs? I am using Nero on XP which allows 64 characters in
Joliet format but this is not enough for most of my files. I have been
reading about recording under Romeo format, which allows longer
filenames, but it seems that this isn't used anymore.

Thank you.
Joe

NTI CD Maker supports Romeo for names up to 128 chars. (You may run into
troubles under some Windows with Romeo format.)

RecordNow supports names up to 106 chars under Joliet and up to 212
chars under "ISO Level 2 Long".

Easy CD Creator, use UDF format or DirectCD ...

A work-around is to put the files with the long names into a zip file that
has a short filename and write the zip file to a CD-R. A little convoluted,
but if the filenames are being rejected and you can't or don't want to
rename the original files, it gets it done.
