The Pioneer A05 DVD-R was the most compatible burner to use, with no
playback occuring only 9 out of 184 tested playback events. The other
drives, including the HP DVD 300i, Philips DVDR890, the Pioneer DVR7000,
and Sony DRX-500UL were worse.
The Maxell DVD-R 4x disc were the most compatible discs to burn to and
use, with no playback occuring in only 3 out of 138 tested playback
events. All other media, were worse: Vertabim & Maxell DVD+RW & DVD+R
discs, Pioneer DVD-RW 2x & DVD-R 4x, and Maxell DVD-RW 2x discs.
----
This data is not all encompassing as it does not test every media
available (eg. such as the very popular, inexpensive Ritek Gen04 DVD-R
media), nor every player available.

NICE. Does anyone have data on the desktop players that will not play
either?
