View Full Version : CD-R vs CD+R???

I encountered this in the buymusic.com FAQ: "Blank CDs, also called media.
Note: Your CD media must be compatible with your CD burner. If you are
burning on a "plus" burner you must use "plus" media. Examples: You can
burn your music files onto X Brand CD+R disks using your Y Brand CD+ Burner.
Or you can burn your music onto W Brand CD-R disks using your Z Brand CD-
Burner."
My first reaction was that this is simply clueless. Nothing in the c.p.c
FAQ about it, anyway, but is it something new? Or did someone just
translate "DVD" into "CD"? Anyone familiar with this terminology?

Your first reaction is the last word. The author is clueless. I suggest
that someone operating at that level is better off writing fiction. I
would treat the entire site as fiction.

Written by someone confused between DVD+-RW and CDR(W), I would think.
The formats for recordable DVD (+ vs. -) are different. No such thing in the
CD world.
