I have a Plexwriter 40/12/40A internal burner which won't work. To be
honest, I've got it to work once, after about two weeks of trying, but
it's never worked again.
I'm using XP Pro with all updates and services packs. The burner is the
master on IDE 1, and the slave on that channel is Asus 16x DVD-ROM.
There are two hard drives on IDE 0 - the master is partitioned with XP
(C:), a FAT32 partition (D:) and a Linux partition and the slave is one
big FAT32 partition (E:). Gigabytes of free space on C, D and E. In
Explorer the Plextor shows up as a CD-RW drive on F: and the Asus as a
DVD Drive on G:. It's all running on a 2.0Ghz Pentium 4 with 1Gb of RAM.
Don't know what the motherboard is. I'm using Verbatim media as
recommended by Plextor.
I've tried the native XP burning functionality (literally dragging and
dropping files onto the drive in Explorer), CloneCD 4 and Nero 6.0.0.9.
I've also tried using XToast on SuSE 8.1 on the same machine. I'm no
expert in this field but even though I'm not sure exactly what's going
wrong, I think it's always the same thing - the data gets cached and
then when it tries to burn it to the disc, it can't and it gives up.
The log file from the last time Nero failed is pasted below. I realise
it could be any one of a number of things so even if nobody can suggest
a solution, I'd really appreciate some pointers on how to diagnose, what
to eliminate and so on.
