Hi there!

Easy CD Creator 3.01 was accidentally installed on a computer running
Windows
XP (Professional edition). It generates an error message when starting
up and I'm unable to remove the program properly.
Is there any way to figure out which entries to the registry have to
be modified in order to completely remove the program and avoid
getting the error message every time Windows starts up?

Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback on this issue, kind regards,
Niek

(Surprised that you got 3.01 installed in the first place.)

After executing all steps mentioned in this article, the error message still remained. However, since it mentions a file 'cdr4vsd.sys' and I read about removing registry keys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ I decided to remove the 'cdr4vsd' registry key which was still found there. The article that mentions removing certain registry keys from the specified location can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315345 Now the error message when starting up windows finally seems gone. However, I'm not fully convinced this completely solved the problem because I had to remove a registry entry with some guesswork to get rid of the error message and there are many inconsistencies between the two online articles dealing with removing Easy CD Creator under Windows XP, so perhaps there remain a few innocuous(?) registry entries related to the program which fail to produce an error message. However, I'll just hope for the best. :-) regards, Niek

All the registry keys I came across on Ezcd uninstall problems are those
mentioned in the KB article you cited. The only file not mentioned in
the KB is Prtseqrd.sys, but you won't have this Take Two file to worry
about as it came with Ezcd 4+. (BTW, this is the file that killed Win2k
for many people, and that gave rise to "cRoxio is the Firestone of CDR
Software".)

You can now safely assume that Ezcd registry entries are gone. (For
good measure, search your system for "cdr*.*" and delete them if they
are Acraptec files.)

(Warning: Ezcd 6 installs thousands of registry entries.)
