View Full Version : Burning labels on CD without any special hardware
Is it possible to burn labels, graphics on the bottom side of a CD,
not using a special drive? I mean: burning extra data (binary 1) in a
special way (not making a typical "ring" of data), to make a soft
pattern, like a hologram?
Is it possible?

Neither the hardware nor the software supports such an operation except
for the special products Yamaha offered - just before they went out of
the drive business. It was a clever idea, but had no payoff in the
marketplace.

No.
Or better: You would need to modify the firmware of the writer - than
it MIGHT work.
Yamaha has done this with disct@2.
Theoretically it would be possible with other drives - but you would
need to modify the firmware.
With the "normal" writing process normal drives offer this is not
possible.
