DVD multisession question

I'm new to DVD.

I just bought an LG GSA-4163b DVD (fw A100)

[I have downloaded the new firmware...]

I use the open disc/closed session feature of CD-Rs
rather than mess with CD-RWs.

Can DVD-Rs be used in the same manner as CD-Rs, to
incrementally add data with new sessions added on and
keep the disc open until its full or I need to close it?

You do multisession on DVD-R just as you do on CD-R. If you are on
win98/me, however, you will only see the first session.
