Yes DOS (don't ask). I need to set up a CDRW for use in a DOS session. The
computer normally runs WIN98 and already has a CDROM as drive D:. Just
installed a new CDRW which is working well in windows, but need to know if I
can add command lines to the auto and config files to get it to run in a DOS
session. I know how to set up a generic D: drive CDROM, but can I just
change the drive letters and make both drives recognizable? And does the
CDRW need any different drivers than the CDROM? No drivers supplied with
drive, only Nero. Guess they figured DOS was dead eh?
Please e-mail replies as I do not normally visit this group. I'm betting
someone knows how to do this, and I thank you for your time.

As far as DOS (or Windows for that matter) is concerned, the writer is a
CDROM device, so if you already know how to set one of those up in DOS, the
writer can be set up similarly. Actually writing to it is a different
matter. You *may* be able to write to the device if the drive uses standard
protocols and you have some suitable burning software that will work in DOS
and is compatible with the writer.
Isn't it time you joined the 21st century?

(Tip by Udo Buedel)

I never burned with Win3.11 but there are plain DOS solutions:

http://bootcd.narod.ru/index_e.htm

Add aspi.sys to your config.sys. This driver support pio mode and I
wrote 24x cd speed.

Another prog is DosCDroast. I don't used this.
