View Full Version : Mount Rainier / EasyWrite

Has Mount Rainier / EasyWrite technology disappeared from the
landscape? Like Betamax?
A few months ago I bought a Plextor PX-712A CD-RW, DVD+/-RW burner and
replaced a CD-RW drive used for data backups. Mount Rainier /
EasyWrite came with it, and I used it to create a bunch of backup
discs. Then I wanted compatibility with another machine, so I went to
buy another drive. Plextor's new drive, the PX-716A drive, doesn't
support MR/EW, and in searching the web, I'm not finding any other new
drive that does so. Am I in dead-end technology? What RW "like a
disk" write technology should I switch to? And hopefully at least
retain the ability to read (if not write to) the already-created CD-RW
and DVD+RW discs using MR/EW?
Thanks,
Fred Holmes
