When I try to format a disc (Memorex CD-RW) I get the following
message "Write failure while accessing the media." What is happening
here. I did this from "My Computer" by licking the burner drive which
is a Benq DVD+rewritable and selecting format from the file menu.

As I have told you before, Drag-to-Disc (DirectCD) has a history of
problems with Memorex cd-rw. Get one of the following and most likely
you won't get that error message.

http://tinyurl.com/6d8vh

Verbatim DataLifePlus Colors CD-RW 2X-4X 80 Minute 20-pack
Verbatim DataLifePlus Colors - CD-RW x 10 - 700 MB
Verbatim DataLifePlus CD-RW x 10 - 650 MB
Verbatim DataLifePlus CD-RW x 20 - 650 MB

Goto the Roxio forums and read all about the bugs.

this just started happening. i have gone through 3 new cd's . same thing
on each, copying from one cd to another. i have already used 40 cd's
from the same package indicating that the cd's are not the problem. i
have rebooted. i have run scandisk which finds errors and claims to
have fixed them, yet the disc is write protected or can't be read
afterwards.

does anyone know what is going on here.

I too have been getting the message when using the latest verison of
Drag to Disc (v7.0.1.41): "Media Status notification for drive I:\.
Write failure accessing the media"

I have used all kinds of different brands of CDRW's and HighSpeed and
Regular discs, while getting this error quite a bit. I have even
replaced my drive with a completely different brand, and still the same
thing. I have ruined about 12 discs in the process, because of this
error. I just can't seem to get a straight answer from Roxio's
technical support with this issue. They keep saying to do a reinstall
and reboot. This is pretty crazy in my book.

I have Version 6 on my work PC, and I don't seem to get this error quite
as often, because I take my CDRW between home and work. It only seems
to occur on my home PC with Version 7.

Anybody else have the same problems?

Never lick your burner.
