With so many brands and format to choose it's really mind bogging which DVD
burner to buy. I will be using it to burn DVD, CDRW etc. with either computer:
Win98SE - (USB 2 and Firewire) and WinXP - (USB 2 only). Can anyone offer
suggestions or advice including external enclosure and Nero software beside the
DVD burners?
Thanks in advance

I have LiteOn and NEC DVD burners and both do exactly what they are supposed
to do. Of the two the NEC is arguably the better piece of kit, though both
do all I have so far asked of them. The NEC I have in my desktop PC. The
other is in an external USB2 box (though Firewire would have been a better
choice to utilise the highest speeds of the writer - I will probably upgrade
the box when I get around to it)
You can get a USB2/Firewire enclosure from eBay for a few pounds - and even
with the NEC drive already mounted. I bought my boxes from the linked UK
supplier -
