Hi, Wondering if anyone else has ever encountered this: I have had 2 Linksys HPN200 cards cease operating after being used for about 1 hour in a new computer. One card was brand new, the other stolen from another computer. Both cards suddenly quit linking, and when the self test was run both came back with "bad register values". Cards are now non-functional, even in the Win98 machine where the one was stolen from. In fact, the Win98 machine will not boot all the way when the cards were installed. I hate to try another card, seems like it will die also. Linksys seems to think it is the Win2K drivers, though I am using their latest on the website. I am nervous that something in this new computer is frying the cards, though I do have a PCI SCSI adapter that is very happy. Can anyone explain what is going on??? Thanks, Scott
In my experience, the HPN200 cards have a very short lifespan - 6 to
12 months in normal use. I'm very grateful for the Linksys 5 yr
warranty as I've replaced my cards several times. However I haven't
had multiple cards die at once as you describe, so it sounds like
something weird is definitely going on. I'd probably go ahead and try
new cards, since they are covered under warranty, and see what
happens - but if they die again I don't know. Is switching to XP an
option, in case win2k really is the problem somehow?

5 Year??? Are you sure? My manual only says 1 year.

I bought mine in 99 or 2000 - maybe they've changed it since then. I
bet they're replacing a lot of cards.
