View Full Version : Problems setting up a Linksys WMP45G-UK Wireless PCI card

Hi

I have spent most of the day trying unsuccessfully to setup a Linksys
WMP54G-UK Wireless PCI card.

I have tried it on both Windows 98SE (my favoured option) and on
Windows XP. I have tried as far as possible to follow the Linksys
Quick Install instructions. Eventually, in desperation I 'phoned the
Linksys HelpDesk - not a happy experience. They don't appear to
respond to emails.

The PCI card is reported in Device Manager as not working.
Reinstalling the driver seems not to be possible.

Essentially, what appears to be happening is that the driver (on the
CD-ROM and downloaded off the Web) doesn't appear to be recognised (or
to match) the card.

The three files in the "drivers" directory are :
bcm43xx.cat (8Kb - 15-Jul-03)
bcmwl5.inf (12Kb - 28-Aug-03)
bcmwl5.sys (260Kb - 17-Jul-03)

I am also using a Linksys WRT54G Access Point / Router which seems to
work fine, using a PC connected via Cat5 cable.

If anyone else has got the Linksys WMP54G-UK Wireless PCI card to
work, I would be very keen to hear how.

Many thanks

Eric
