My current network is all Cat 5, I need to run three new connections that
are 360 ft away from the switch. With the distance limitations of Cat 5
being 100 m. what are my options. Any suggestions on a repeater I could use
to strengthen the connection?

thanks,

Chuck M

Should any old $20 hub work as a repeater?

Thank you, I wasn't sure if that would work.

I had a similar problem - one 350-400 foot run and another 500-600 foot CAT5
run. They worked ok at 10BASET speeds, but using the same wires at 100BASET
it died a miserable death. I replaced both runs with fiber and some cheapie
$150 USD (per end) media converters. We went with fiber since the cable ran
under a parking lot and the underground pipe was frequently flooded with
rainwater.
