i have the same problem, does anyone knows how to fix it?????
thanks

I am using the DLINK 704P 'silver box' router. At the moment I only have one
PC connected to the router, and have the router connected to a motorola
cable modem (ATT broadband connection). The PC is running XP-Pro SP1. The PC
is set up for auto configuration using the router as DHCP server, and all
settings on router are default, except I have the MAC address from my PC's
NIC spoofed to the WAN on the router (ATT uses MAC address authentication).
When I do a full reset on the system - turn off everything, reboot cable
modem, then router, then PC... I have internet connectivity. But after an
hour or so, the internet connectivity is lost. The router stops
communicating with the cable modem. I can still ping / connect to the web
interface on the router from my PC, but cannot access the internet in any
way (with IP address, web address, or any other way).
The only way to fix this is to restart everything again...and then the
problem happens again in an hour or so. I have found various references to
this problem by doing google 'group' searchs, but unfortunately no
solutions. The only common thing that I have found in common with people
with this problem is that all have been running win xp on at least one pc on
their LAN.
If I take the router out of the loop, connecting the cable modem
directly to my PC's Nic, everything functions normally.
I haven't tried manually configuring everything, by turning off dhcp on the
router...but i would hope that would not be necessary. I guess I will try
that next if no one has any ideas.
Once I get this router running reliably I will be adding the rest of my home
PCs to it, so I do need the functionality of a router, and will appreciate
any help on this.
