Problem w/WinXP Network Setup Wizard and connection

I'm not sure I understand why I'm unable to use WinXP's Network Setup
Wizard to establish a connection w/my network.

I run the program, it finishes, and voila: no network connection
whatsoever. I select the second option: "This computer connects
through another computer on my network or through a residential
gateway," because that's the selection I had chosen previously (when I
first created my network and it had worked fine), but now after it
finishes, I see no reference to an Internet Gateway in my Network
Connections folder like I used to. The only way to get back on is to
manually input the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway, along
w/my DNS servers.

What gives? Did I affect the ability (of the Wizard) to properly
detect and setup my connection when I changed the defaults of my
router? Seems to me that would be a given (to change defaults) and
that the program would adapt.

Winblows XP is very buggy when it comes to the network wizard. You are
better off to setup the connectio manually selecting DHCP.

Actually, when windows use's internet sharing, the computer that is
connected to internet, get's set to 168.192.0.1
Rest of the computers should be set to automatticly set IP, and that
should work. At least, that's what worked on my system, after
wondering why, many times, that my network wasn't working correctly.

My concern (and problem) is that I don't have my router set up to
192.168.0.1, since Linksys' info says that to run DHCP you should set
your IP address to something OTHER than that. So I did.

I finally got the "wizard" to work after going in and manually setting
the IP address and the ilk, then running the "wizard" again and letting
it "detect" the already existing connection to the IP address I had set
previously.
