My next laser printer developed the paper pickup problem, so I read
the info online about how to clean/renew the rubber pickup wheel. Not
having the stuff mentioned nor wanting to go find it I went to my car-care
chemicals and pulled out the vinylex by lexol. It's for car interiors,
plastic, vinyl, rubber, etc. I put some on a paper towel opened the hatch
on the printer and cleaned a bit of roller, turned it by hand, cleaned
some more, and when I was about half way along it started to pick up the
sheet of paper. Printer is now working normally. (I did clean the whole
roller) I'll see for how long.
