Press the power button on your Gecko, then click "Cancel" on the panel
that appears. Haha--now the Gecko is turned on with the button sticking
out!
Ahem. OK, I am off to bed.

You can still turn off the machine by software, or, press it back in and then release it
again ...
(all from long ago memories ...)

Yep. Actually, IIRC from the other night, the machine gives you the
"power off?" panel when you press the button in again, but then waits
for you to press the button once again ("It's now safe to turn off the
computer.") before actually turning off.
