View Full Version : DSP Jack Pin/Signal Assignments?

We have an Ariel D-MN digital microphone that interfaces to the NeXT
Station and Next Cube via the 15-pin "D" DSP connector. We'd like to
know what signals are on what pins. Might someone point us to that
info?

I believe that it's in a man page, but I can't recall which one and I
don't have an NS machine up at the moment. I will try to remember to
check when I get home.

I'm sure this is online somehere, but I happen to have The NeXT Book
out right now, so here it is:

It's been about ten years since I looked at this, but I believe that
these pins are basically one of the 56k's serial ports (the other is
tied to a host DMA channel, IIRC). Documentation on SC1 and SC2, for
example, can therefore be found in the relevant Motorola book.

Thanks to both of you!

I just realised that I may have been unintensionally misleading with
what I said above. While the Motorola docs will tell you what sorts of
things you can do with the serial ports, they won't talk about the
protocols the MusicKit implements using them. If you are fiddling
with hardware that expects MusicKit behaviour, you may need to read
some of the NeXT/CCRMA docs to really figure out what's going on.
