Hi there
A UK new 030 Cube owner here... I've just got an 030 based Next Cube with a
SCSI HD and an MO drive. The system looks to be set up to boot from the
SCSI HD - but on power-up, after the hardware tests are passed and a "blop"
sound heard, I get the following error messages:
"sc : Didn't complete"
which repeats occasionally joined by
"REQ SENSE : Target disconnected"
I have checked that the SCSI cables are firmly connected at both ends, and
the SCSI drive sounds like it is spinning up, and there is a brief burst of
head activity then nothing?
The machine has just been shipped to me - does this sound like an HD
failure? Anyone got any suggestions as to how to progress?
All assistance and advice gratefully received. Thanks for your time.

At first, welcome!
Not necessarily. This strange behavior sometimes happens, when the drive
is not jumpered correctly. Which pins to jumper surely depends on the
drive, what was not mentioned in your posting. Don't hesitate to jumper
also pins that are reserved! This worked for mine, a 9GB IBM. Also google
for this behavior, there were several postings to this issue same years
ago.

If you got this in the current condition (set up to boot from the HD
which was already present), then I'd say that most likely the problem
is that it is now missing external termination. "sc: Didn't
complete" often results from improper termination. Either that or the
hard drive has died (which can produce that error as well).
