View Full Version : Help for 4.3 Gb HD
hi all
My configuration is: NeXTstation Turbo 33 Mhz, 96 Mb ram, internal 4.3GB
Quantum Grand Prix 4301S, OPENSTEP 4.2 original CD & boot floppy
(without manuals), external Apple 300 SCSI CD reader
I can't install OPENSTEP 4.2 on 4.3GB Quantum Grand Prix 4301S, because
my NeXTstation Turbo identifies this HD as one having a capacity of 10
MB.
So it's impossible for me to install OPENSTEP 4.2 on this HD from
original 4.2 CD
The 4.2 installation screen says:
The following disks are available in this computer:
1. SCSI DISK at target 0 (QUANTUM-4301S) - 4320 MB.
^^^^
The first installation process works fine after selecting HD.
But after the reboot the installer "Install OPENSTEP" (additional
software) can't install anything, because it says that the HD has only
10 MB!
I'm absolute beginner, this is my first unix-like machine, and the first
NeXT...
TIA
Dani

IIRC the automatic partitioning done by "disk" becomes confused if the
disk is too large. Can you boot single-user from the CD-ROM and parittion
the disk by hand, still using "disk"?
