View Full Version : FEEDBACK: Looking for a program to convert .pdf to .eps or .tif
I get artwork from many people. Sometimes they don't convert fonts to
outlines or curves. Many times they submit a .pdf file. I need a
program that can convert a .pdf file to .eps or .tif
Any recommendations?

Acrobat can save out the PDF as a .eps file.
You can also rip out the fonts with Acrobat.

Dear Mike:
Thanks for the response. I was aware that Acrobat can save out the
PDF as an .eps file. My problem is that when that file is opened in
illustrator, the fonts are not there. Illustrator substitutes the
default font.
Would you please explain how to "rip out the fonts with Acrobat". I
looked for information from the help file in Acrobat 6 professional
and cannot discover how to get at the files. PS: I am PC based.
I attached a small file which contains two fonts: ITC Korrina and
Stencil. If you do not have them installed, would you please tell me
how to extract them from the embedded PDF file so I can use them in
Illustrator.
I appreciate your time and caring.
Thanks
Bob

I would like to thank you for the wonderful answer to this problem.
It is the best news that I have received after asking many people how
to solve this problem.

Create an .EPS from Acrobat, then open the file in CorelDRAW. CorelDRAWallows you to open an .eps with the choice (i LOVE THIS PART!) of keepingfonts intact, or converting all text to curves. REALLY handy! (Take a note,Adobe programmers!)Draw is all i use now when dealing with .pdf's. As a matter of fact, i useit religiously as it will open and convert just about ANYTHING you throw atme. i work for a New York Times regional paper, and it has kept this paperfrom missing press deadlines COUNTLESS times.Send a sample to me, i'll spit you out a .eps with fonts to curves.Smilesgooup"bob" <anon321NOSPAM@verizon.net> wrote in messagenews:u2gmfv4c61o0fsrobddcmk82ai4apciu1m@4ax.com... i use Illustrator, and i know it can convert fonts to curves AFTER it has
pulled in the .eps. The problem is when you're opening an EPS which contains
fonts you don't have on your machine. CorelDRAW can convert fonts to curves
DURING the import function, thus eliminating the need to even have those
fonts on your machine!

P.S. Gooup - An eps can be opened in Illustrator without any problems, once opened all text can be converted to 'curves' if needed.
