I want to create a multi-page drawing in Illustrator 8.0 and
save it as an acrobat file. When I do, it only saves the first
page. What am I doing wrong? I could not find any settings
that I could change that would correct this. I also own
Acrobat 5.0.
thanks

You would need to "Print" to a PostScript file
and use Distiller
to create the PDF.

You may even need to "Place" the individual .ai files into a page layout
application to get the multi-page PDF - (I forget from Illustrator).
