I'm about to send a printer a Quark layout that has a lot of Illustrator EPS
files in place. I know the line weights that i've been seeing on my laser
printer don't necessarily reflect what my printer will get from his high res
imagesetter. But I don't know how the line weight point sizes from
Illustrator will translate. Different sources say not to have lines smaller
than 1 pt or .25 pt, or even .09pt. I checked an old Quark layout that had
similar pictures in place against its printed result, but I didn't learn
much - the eps files in that document had line weights between .25 pt to .09
pt and they didn;t look much different when printed. One big question I
have is: if your Illustrator file has a line weight of 1 pt, and you place
it in your Quark layout at 200%, does that mean you get a 2 pt line?? I
though it might until I looked at this old layout, did some quick math, and
realized that this wasn't making sense..
Can anyone tell me exactly how line weights in an Illustrator file work in a
Quark document??
Thanks for reading...

I've never had any problems with line weights in Illustrator placed in quark.
200% image scale in quark should double the line weight in the placed file
Hope this helps
