Can anyone tell me how I can create a knockout in Ill10 I can do this easily
with Corel Draw and with Macromedia Freehand, but cannot get a good result
with Ai. In Corel u simply put text on top of the background and select
Combine.

I think you are talking about creating a mask?

If your wanting to fill text with a raster graphic, you will need to use the
mask tool...
Details are in the accompanying manual on the procedure...
