View Full Version : Won't Save Some Settings - Quicken 2004

When I perform a backup - Quicken will ask if I want to overwrite the
existing file. I click OK and put a checkmark in the box which reads
something like "don't ask me this again". Yet, it asks me each time.

Quicken also will occasionally suggest that I add some transactions to
memorized transactions. I always click NO and put the checkmark in
the "don't ask me again" box. But it will always ask again.

Any ideas why it is not saving my selection of the "don't ask again"
box?

Thanks.

Hi, TB.

Have you updated Q04 recently? "Overwrite the existing file" was a problem
in the early revisions, but I don't have that problem in R5. I never had
the other problem (with memorized transactions).

In Q2002 deluxe for Windows, US, there is a Quicken option to
turn off this question, and it works; you could look for
something similar in Q2004. In Q2002, you would:

Edit > Options > Quicken program > General

and in the "Backup" section, uncheck "Warn before overwriting
old files".
Quicken also will occasionally suggest that I add some transactions to memorized transactions. I always click NO and put the checkmark in the "don't ask me again" box. But it
will always ask again.

Suggest adding to "memorized transactions"? I don't recall ever
seeing one of those, though I do get asked if I want to
"schedule" a transaction. Saying no seems to work for that.

Also, it is not clear from your description whether Quicken (or
you) think that checking "don't ask me again" refers to the
general question, or just the question about that particular
transaction or payee. If the question refers only to that
payee, then Quicken may be doing what you have told it to do.
(Can't tell for sure because you only say Quicken "will always
ask again" but you don't say whether it asks about the same
payee or a different payee).

In Q2002, you can memorize new transactions "automatically" or
manually, but I do not think you ever get asked. If I were
looking for a Quicken option that pertained to memorizing new
transactions, I would look at the register QuickFill options.
(Looking in Help might also turn up something useful).
Any ideas why it is not saving my selection of the "don't ask again" box?
