The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition Technology
and Logistics and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) are pleased to
announce the Third Annual Conference on the Acquisition of
Software-Intensive Systems. This is an opportunity for government
acquisition organization employees, their support agencies
(i.e., support contractors, FFRDCs), and federal government contractors
to share experiences and insights about acquisition.
The conference will focus on improving complex systems acquisition
throughout government. The experience and expertise of practitioners
in the field provides the best insight for professionals who are trying
to enhance the effectiveness of their acquisition methods and techniques.
We encourage you to submit proposals for presentations or tutorials that
explore key issues currently of interest to the government acquisitions
community. The following are a few suggestions for session topics:
.. State of acquisition practice in federal (and state) agencies
.. Experiences with improved acquisition practices such as
- systems engineering
- agile acquisition
- evolutionary acquisition
- known "best practices:
- improved acquisition processes
- improved contract language
- spiral development
- acquisition technology issues
- architectures and product lines
- managing risk
.. System of systems issues
.. Capability-based acquisition
.. Software assurance
.. Legal, regulatory, and policy issues
.. Improving the acquisition workforce
Proposal abstracts should be no longer than one page (750 words)
and should include the name, telephone number, and e-mail address
