Is there any free/3rd party tool that allows a dba to check the database status through a web page like the "big brother" for unix? For example, for big brother for unix, it shows green light if server is up running, red light if trouble, purple if no report. Is there something like this to monitor oracle database?
I think the best tool out there is Nagios.
Nagios was formerly known as Netsaint. It's very easy to set up and configure
and there are some basic Oracle plugins available.
Moreover, it's very easy to set up your own plugins...they're pretty much any command
line program.
