the default property of block level of updation
is
Update Changed Columns Only property=NO
it means when u will update only one field in form.
and oracle will update all column of table
ALSO UPDATE PRIMARY KEY (OH NOOOOOOOOOOO)
IT MEANS IT WILL LOCK ON CHILD TABLES ;
IS THIS BEHAIVOUR IS OK IN LARGE APPLICATION???????????????

This behavior is one that should ALWAYS be changed.

Just Curious.
Why do you say this, as it contradicts the help in the forms
documentation?
i have considered this for a forms 6i OLTP(primarily) application
running over the web to
reduce network traffic (we dont use longs or images in the database)

For just the reason the OP stated ... it updates the primary key.
Consider the implication with respect to locking and overhead. There is
no value from updating fields that were not modified ... and a very
heavy cost.
