Anyhow I choose two drives and formatted the HDD just fine and it's running a treat (as drive 4), but riscos shows a drive 5 and when I double click on it the system grinds to a halt for a while and then displays an error message. Any idea how to get rid of drive 5?

Press F12 and do:

Status [Return]

This will list stuff, one line of which will say something like:

IDEdiscs 2

Now type, at the star prompt:

Configure IDEdiscs 1 [Return]

Press Return again to re-enter the desktop.

I /think/ it's 'IDEdiscs' for the 3020, but some m/cs used 'ADFSdiscs'
instead (A3000?).

If necessary do a power on with the R key held down.

That should sort it.

Look at my 'What to do if your hard disc fails to Boot' on my Software
