Have a look at the Boot section of Configure. This allows most things to be booted or run at startup. It's catering well for the add-ons that I use (or the 32-bit ones, anyway).
Yes, this is what I was referring to. On my Iyonix, this entire section
consists of greyed lists and buttons which prevent modification of the
status quo.
It is possible that thre is some lock inside !Boot which prevents
configuration changes by default, but at the very least a way to unlock
these configuration options should be documented.

Are you saying the icons 'Remove selection' through to 'Set' are all
greyed as well?
If you are viewing at the 'Look at' section then these items are greyed
out if they are also in the 'Run' section because that boots them before
running them.

What happens if you add new items? Are these greyed or not?

Yes: these are the integral bits of Boot, which you don't want to be
changing. You can add more items to these lists, and these extra items
are not greyed out.
This is how all versions of RISC OS worked until Select came along
(including RISC OS 4.02), so it's not an Iyonix problem. Select just lost
the greyed out items from the lists, so they're still there but you can't
see them.

No, there isn't any such option and never has been.
