Does he read here? Jason? Hello? :)

Sorry, didn't do my usual ego surfing to see who's talking about me last
week ;-)

I've actully been in an active discussion with Philip regarding the Oak
Recorder and also other topics.

The current state of play is that it's a real bummer not being able to
get the chip number; I've got a few ideas, but when I moved house, some
of my datasheets disappeared. These gave an overview of the devices
available at the time and their pinouts. Since I've got a rough idea as
to which pin does what, knowing the chip number is difficult (and I've
done searches such as "pin 8 data" in google, which doesn't bring up
what you want).

I've got some other ideas, but my really small wire cutters have also
vanished (I want to cut the pins off the chip and have a look at the
underside; sometimes the chip number is printed there too).

The first stage is to get a Sonor driver working; this has fewer
requirements than VoiceCon. Then, it's over to VoiceCon.

Rather you than me :-)

There is the option of reverse engineering the driver module - GS_Support.
Once that's been deciphered, it shouldn't be too difficult to write a Sonor
driver.
But then we get back to the fact that the GS_Support RMModule looks like it's
been written in C using a rather lousy compiler. That's my opinion anyway. I
was going to say BASIC, but I don't know of any BASIC compilers that can
create modules that export SWIs...

Later.

It's a PCF8591, looking at the PCB and sampler specs. Not the fastest
device in the world, but it gets its job done.

It's also interesting that it's a 4-input device, so maybe they were
thinking of enabling the other channels (albeit at a probably reduction
in quality)...

Apparently Philip seems to have got most of the Sonor driver working...

Can I have copies of those? (and the PCF8591 datasheet?)

Im trying to collect docs and specs of hardware used on arm26 machines for the arm26 linux project.
