when they did the section on patching RISC OS. It wasn't that long after
I started reading it, and for some reason March/April/May 1992 comes to
mind (may have been 1993) -- though I haven't actually checked this...

Be warned, however, that the saved module may not run, because a lot of
modules modify themselves nowadays; this was originally a big no-no
because it prevents the module running from ROM (without changes),
but all C modules (for example) perform relocations when they initialise
which means that the saved image won't work.
The other (harder) approach of reading from the Podules using the
Podule APIs will solve this.
