I was trying to get an A310 operational again. Because the RAM batteries had more or less disintegrated I have lost the original settings. The machine was fitted with a small IDE drive. This is a 2.5 inch unit mounted on a card and the ROM is labelled A400 IDE V1.00.
No matter what values I give the configure variables the drive produces an error. The same happens with a spare drive I found in a box. I'm looking for the correct configure values for IDEFSTimer, IDEFSDelay and IDEFSFirCache. There may well be something else I am not aware of.

I have an APDL IDEa i\f.

I have identical !Boot files on IDEFS::4 and SCSI::4 and have booted from
IDEFS:4 for almost a year. Last week I reconfigured FileSystem IDEFS to
FileSystem SCSI but haven't touched any of the IDEFS configurations.

IDEDiscs 0
IDEFSDrive 4
IDEFSStartupDelay 7 sec (a reasonable compromise for the APDL i\f)
IDEFSDirCache 32K
IDEFSDiscs auto: Found=1 (APDL, I guess)
IDEFSTimer no such configuration

* If things appear to be going well, you have overlooked something
