View Full Version : BBC Master genlock card

Anyone come across a Cox 630B genlock card for a BBC Master before? I
found one built into a BBC Master that was in a haul of Acorn stuff I
got the other day.
Some documentation would be nice! I'm not sure if the card was
designed specifically for the BBC or intended for anything that had
TTL RGB output. Certainly the fitting into the case isn't particularly
professional :)
The host machine is fried (I've not investigated the actual fault yet)
but hopefully the genlock is still ok.
cheers

No it would have to be specific to the M128. To achieve the 'lock' in
genlock the board has to be able to push the system clock around to
keep the output in sync with the external video feed.

Given the interaction between the genlock and the system clock I would
not be so sure. If you take this genlock out you will have to either
link or solder up the system clock path that gets divided by this
board, otherwise the m128 will be stone dead.
I *may* have some acorn info on how genlock and m128 work. Let me
know if you want me to look.

The BBC used to use BBC micros to generate some logos (eg Children's
BBC in 1987), they had to be genlocked.

If you could that'd be great! I doubt many of these setups are still around, so
whilst I do have most Acorn docs, information on this card is non-existant so
far.
Whether the board's been cooked or not is unknown at the moment, but
transplanting it into another m128 would be no trouble at all. I'll do some
testing on the machine itself next week though; I haven't even had a chance to
re-seat chips or anything like that yet.

I had a look last night in the location I expected the circuits to be,
they were not there. I will have another look tonight. I am sure I
still have them.

IIRC the clock they used to show between programs was BBC B generated.
