View Full Version : Automatic updates fail after upgrade to 2005

I always have scheduled the one-step updates to download at 5AM Tuesday
through Saturday, and until I upgraded to QW 2005, this wasn't a problem.
Now, I get the error icon almost immediately when the scheduled event
starts. But manually updating via One-Step Update works fine.
Anybody know of a fix?

I have no idea what the problem is, but I suggest that one of
you should post the exact error message that you see when this
fails.

Instead of the little flag in the system tray, you get a double-headed arrow
with an exclamation point, indicating an error.

Instead of the little yellow flag in the system tray, you get a
double-headed arrow with an exclamation point, indicating an error. When you
mouse over this icon, the message simply says, "An error has occurred with
last download session".
When you open Quicken, there are no errors in the online update summary. If
I do a one Step Update, it works normally.

Right - I get the same thing also. I assumed it was becuase the
quicken 2004 BAGENT was still installed, so I cleaned out the whole
quicken dir and re-installed. Same thing happens.

Update - contacted support - chatted actually. The person gave me the
whole, uninstall - install 2004, run validate on the file line then
reinstall 2005 and convert the validated file. Dispite the obviousness
of the "get the customer off the phone" aspect of that, I did it
anyway, found two inconsistant transactions in my file - but scheduled
updates still dont work in 2005. 10 bucks says its 2006 until this is
fixed.

I had the same problem. Intuit was unable to help after several
attempts. With lots of searching I found a loosly related topic that
led me to the solution.
Delete and rebuild the pin vault.
Do this only if you know what all your pins are!
Use Online->Pin Vault->Delete
Then do a one-step-update and you will be walked through the process of
rebuilding the pin vault. You MAY need to reboot so you can tell
bagent.exe the password of your new pin vault.
It was pretty painless for me and worked like a charm.
Good luck.

Thanks, I'll try that. And for those who don't know their pins, if you
edit the pin vault and choose print, enter your vault pw and it will
print out all of your pins for you.

Update - deleting the pin vault and making a new one worked for me
also! Thanks.

Worked for me as well. Did not need to reboot.
