Thanks for the heads up. Not a lot of bundled software, though... Used to
include NAV..... I really don't need another shredder...... ;-)

Thanks for the info.
There are similar deals being advertised by OfficeMax and CompUSA, but they only
include Quicken Basic 2005, not Deluxe.

Staples always has the best deals. Last year they also had the deluxe
version for free... I was counting, though, on the NAV package being
included. Guess I'll have to actually pay for it this year.... ;-)

Are you sure this for 2 days only? I tore out the ad and don't have the
full page, but it looks like this is an ongoing sale price.

Hard to tell, even with both the circular and the following (where I
don't see any "except as noted" text):
http://instorespecials.staples.com/staples/default.aspx?action=browsepagesingle&storeid=2360106&rapid=84137&pagenumber=5
There'll be SOME deal on TT and Quicken, but it may or may not include
the shredder and Quicken deluxe instead of basic.

The front page was the early Friday specials.
On the right margin of page 2 or 3 , it claims that the rest of the prices are
for Friday and Saturday only.
Now, I've been to a Staples and bought the package(s). There is a special
described on the Quicken cardboard kiosk. And I have the boxes. There is a $30
off Quicken 2005 (any version) offer (good through 4/15/05) if you buy Turbo Tax
2005 (Basic, Deluxe, or Premier). Turbo-Tax State is free with purchase of
Turbo-Tax Deluxe or Premier. This is all mail-in rebate stuff.
So I'm guessing that's the same underlying deal, that Office Max and CompUSA are
advertising. But Staples has dropped the price of Quicken Deluxe 2005 to $29.99.
BTW: they (Salem, NH -on Methuen MA line) were nominally out of Quicken Deluxe
stock, but I found a copy on the back of the Turbo Tax display which was on the
other side of the store. It pays to poke around. Though I got the impression
I could get a rain-check. There is nothing on the flyer that says limited to
quantities on-hand.

I went to the local Staples store yesterday. In past years, they put the
displays prominently in the front of the store. This year, it was hidden in
the far corner, near the paper and forms. About as far from the other
software as possible... The display showed the "standard" rebate offers. I
found a copy of the circular and brought it with me to the checkout. Turns
out that the price for Q05 Deluxe is $29.94. My guess is that the overall
offer is going to be for a while, but the sale price of Q05 Deluxe is only
for the two days....

Thanks! for the pointer. I tried looking for a promotional section on
intuit.com but didn't manage to find it.
I called the store earlier this morning, and the person that answered the phone
was clueless and wanted me to come back in.
Also note that the Staples flyer said we would be able to get an "EasyRebate"
"No clipping, No mailing, No hassle" but you'll find that
http://www.stapleseasyrebates.com has an "I'm sorry we've been overwealmed"
page. But it says something about a mail-in redemption form. Presumably the
store has them somewhere. ...if I go back.
So, I still have to clip, mail and hassle.

DON'T go back, assuming you got printed Rebate Receipts and Redemption
Forms for everything you bought EXCEPT TurboTax and Quicken, e.g. the
shredder. Use the Intuit link for TurboTax and Quicken - all you need
are the UPC's and the original or a photocopy of the sales slip. For
everything else, all you need are the printed Rebate Receipts and
Redemption Forms when the easy rebate center reopens on Tuesday (or just
mail them in if you don't want to wait, as the easy rebate center screen
mentioned). You're trying to make this a lot harder than it really is.

Dave and Hank -
Staples has on-line "Easy Rebates". Very worthwhile. But their
computers died Friday and are only partly back as yet. Still, I think
it's worth waiting, rather than wrestling with paper forms.
If you prefer a free Norton Anti-Virus, Best Buy has that this week,
but only Quicken Basic.
All through Dec. 4.

My paperwork is in the mail already. It's actually pretty painless. You fill

Yuk! I can't believe I fell for that.
Well, that's what happens when you trust your finances to a company so
dominated by marketing that they don't care whether your accounting
comes out right.
Staples' on-line system is still broken, and they have stopped
answering their rebate 800 number. Maybe mailing is the way to go ...
except I fear the same computers that are rejecting me on-line might
reject anything I mail in.
Though - the Intuit rebates are probably going to a different place.

Staples' system is back up, but it really doesn't matter if you
submit it now or in a week because they make the submission wait
2 weeks to make sure you don't return it before processing a
check.
And sorry to disappoint you, but the Intuit and Staples rebates
are both handled by the same company, Parago. It's them who is
having the problem, not Staples (although it is their rebate
system being run by Parago).
BTW no one has mentioned it but Quicken Deluxe is still $29.94
this week, making it free with Turbotax Deluxe.
Last week's deal with free It's Deductible at Office Depot was a
great deal. It was also available on OfficeMax and CompUSA, but
it does not appear that anyone has it free this week, and the
other bonuses like the 256mb memory key at OD are gone as well.
You COULD buy QD at one of the other stores and use the Staples
ad to make them price match to $29.94, and get the rest of their
deal. That is what I did with Office Depot last week, so I got
the 256mb memory key and It's Deductible, which Staples did not
have. No one seems to have ID free this week, and the only bonus
deal is the free cheapo shredder at Staples (unless you could a
free package of paper at Office Depot).
Oh, and Norton Antivirus should be free after rebate everywhere
with the purchase of Turbotax. There is a $30 rebate available
when you buy it on the same receipt as any tax product as well
as a $20 upgrade rebate.

I tried looking for a promotional section on intuit.com but didn't manage to find it. I called the store earlier this morning, and the person that answered the phone was clueless and wanted me to come back in. Also note that the Staples flyer said we would be able to get an "EasyRebate" "No clipping, No mailing, No hassle" but you'll find that http://www.stapleseasyrebates.com has an "I'm sorry we've been overwealmed" page. But it says something about a mail-in redemption form. Presumably the store has them somewhere. ...if I go back. So, I still have to clip, mail and hassle. Dave.DON'T go back, assuming you got printed Rebate Receipts and RedemptionForms for everything you bought EXCEPT TurboTax and Quicken, e.g. theshredder. Use the Intuit link for TurboTax and Quicken - all you needare the UPC's and the original or a photocopy of the sales slip. Foreverything else, all you need are the printed Rebate Receipts andRedemption Forms when the easy rebate center reopens on Tuesday (or justmail them in if you don't want to wait, as the easy rebate center screenmentioned). You're trying to make this a lot harder than it really is.CTinFL
Well, the problem is that I did NOT get a register printed Rebate Redemption
form. Nothing other than the regular sales price of the packages
($39.95+29.94+29.95) was on my tape. Nothing additional came out of the
printer. The teller was nice enough to print 3 extra duplicates for me.
But I did go back on Saturday (I wanted to get something else & it did print a
form for that!). The store manager tried returning and re-buying the software,
but still nothing came out. He also tried to convince me that that Intuit would
rebate me for them. But I insisted Staples had something so he finally reached
into a Staples internal rebate site, and found and printed me some mail-in
forms. Worse case, I have the forms as a fall back. All they want is a copy of
the receipt and my address, phone #, and email.
Now that it's up, I can see the EasyRebates site wants the offer number - not on
my receipt, but I can get it from the forms I got, and a Easy Rebates ID number,
but that seems to be the regular bar code number that appears on any ordinary
Staples receipts.
So I tried that, and it seemed to work. It took my rebate request.
I couldn't have done it without the 2-5 promotion numbers.
Dave.

Looks like stapleseasyrebates.com is pretty much repaired now.
In case someone else wants to save a trip back to the store - the
offer numbers are:
$10 off TTax: 04-87986
$30 back on state tax: 04-87990
$30 back on Quicken: 04-87984
These are all shown as valid 11/15/2004 through 04/15/2005.
Despite their technical difficulties (probably due largely to the
Black Friday customer deluge), I am totally sold on Staples Easy
Rebates. Nothing to copy, stamp, mail, etc.
