I just bought a HP5550 printer to replace my HP 970CSE which died. Now,
according to everything I have read the duplex module (2-sided printing
module) should work on my 5550 printer. But everytime I install it, nothing
happens; the software continues to ask me to remove the page from the out
tray and put it in the in tray. Does anyone know what I might be doing
wrong or is there a software setting that I don't know about (yes, I did
check 2-sided printing in the printer properties on the Features tab).

nothing happens; [snip] You need to tell the driver that the printer has the duplexer module
installed. In XP this is found in settings->printer->click on the 5550, properties, advanced, printing defaults, open the toolbox, configuration then click
the "Automatic Two-Sided Module", apply, OK. Other versions of Windows would
have similar methods. Regards, Bob Headrick, not speaking for my employer HP
