I have the original (?) photosmart scanner. The scsi one. Normally I scan
film and slides. However, I recently tried scanning some prints and I
they come out with faint green bars on the darker portions of the print.
This seems to have developed over the past year. Which is the last time
I can remember scanning a print.
Googling around, I came across a news thread about these being
reflections from the "aging" top lid rollers and that cleaning the
rolliers would help. I tried cleaning the rollers as directed by the HP support
site and this did not seem to help at all.
I was thinking that if this is a roller reflection problem, that some
kind of coating could reduce the albido of the rollers. However, the
coating could come off on the prints being scanned.
Anyone have ideas as to how to rectify the problem?
