View Full Version : JetDirect Problem - double prints

Usually, "double prints" is a good thing but when you're talking about print
jobs, it's not so good when you didn't MEAN them to be doubled...
Installed a JD500x with 2 printers attached. Immediately thereafter, print
jobs sent to at least one of the printers "doubled" (i.e. sent and completed
a job and then a second copy of the job -a multi-hundred page mailing-
started). The only variable that I've managed to figure out without
actually being able to go to the site yet is that the printer cable (which
was working fine before when the printer was connected directly to a
workstation) is not labeled "IEEE-1284" and is about 25' long.
1. Could a non "IEEE-1284- cable cause this?
2. Is it more or less likely that the JD is defective or incorrectly
configured?

Double prints would not be explained by a non-IEE-1284 cable. Nobody has
responded yet to your posting because you need to tell us more. What kinds of
printers are attached to the JetDirect 500? How were they set up? Which
operating systems are you using? ... Ben Myers
