I would think you could put the next chip in slot 1 without any problems. Note: HP's are
notoriously picky about which RAM chips they will recognize. As to the second question: if you
plan on running CAD programs or very intricate graphic editing programs, then the 1gig would help,
however, if you are a 'normal' user (usual games, and programming) then the 512mb is quite
sufficient...luck...

Check your system's documentation, if your system has four slots, memory may
need to go in pairs.
