I've got an HP Deskjet 950c. I've been using it on Windows machines,
but am now trying to use it with a Mac. I've downloaded the drivers
from HP and installed those, but am having a hard time finishing up
the installation. On the chooser, I can select a printer, although it
says "hp inkjet v6.1.1". When I do that it asks if I want to scan for
TCP/IP network printers. I click no since this is connected to the
mac through a usb hub. I close the chooser and try to print something
and get the error message, "You have changed your selected printer,
but have not specified your printer model. Click "Setup" and select
your model in the type menu." So I go back to the chooser, but the
"setup" button is grayed out when the deskjet v6.1.1 is selected, so I
don't know how to make progress.

When I take a look at the report for the system and examine what the
USB port sees, it does see the hp 950c, so it can identify it through
the usb hub it's on.

Any tips on how to finish this installation? I'm kind of stumped.

Thanks, Chris

i don't know if this will work for you, as my experiments were along
different lines and, i confess, a bit sloppy.

but

i had joy after i uninstalled 6.1.1 and installed in its stead 5.4.

i also disabled (per HP) some odd epson USB extensions. i have no idea
where they came from. read the readme that comes with the driver.

i'd also try it w/o the hub. i forget which printer and driver of HP has
a difficulty with hubs.
