Glen,
You're out of luck for an LJ5 manual on-line. Closest you can come is to print
out the parts explosions for the LJ5 from theprinterworks web site.
I bought a whole collection of LJ service manuals on a CD on PDF format.
Indispensible. Legal? Who knows? ... Ben Myers

I would be willing to pay to whomever as long as it was legit. I am not going
to pay some yahoo money on ebay for something that isnt their intellectual
property.
That being said, doesnt the LJ5 just use standard 16 meg or smaller FPM simms?

I think you might attract more help if you didn't refer to some of us as
yahoos, inferring that we were running scam operations.
I don't have the material to sell, although I bought a CD as well to help me
with the printers.

Glen,
Yes, standard 72-pin fast page mode SIMMs, 70 ns only, with JEDEC-compliant
serial presence detection logic. A VERY narrow standard. Parity or non-parity
is OK. If you're a purist about these things, use only tin-plated SIMMs, not
gold-plated.
I also had an odd 32MB SIMM, JEDEC-compliant, and it works just fine in an LJ5 I
recent refurbed and sold to a regular customer. However, the official
contraband pirated intellectual property I have here makes no mention of 32MB
SIMMs. Neither do several of the comprehensive unofficial HP printer web sites,
nor the non-contraband official HP paper references... Ben

Eric,
Thank you. That's worth bookmarking. User level manuals, at least, but no
on-line service manuals... Ben Myers

You make me confused. When I scroll down a bit on the page, I find a link to
download the PDF version for the LaserJet 5xx printer USER MANUAL. Following
the link I find this:
» HP LaserJet 5Si/5Si MX/5Si NX Printer User's Guide - C3166-99018
(PDF, 2.46MB)
» HP LaserJet Printer Family - (English) Print Media Specification Guide
(PDF, 0.76MB)
Is it not what you are looking for?
