Want to be able to do fast Ghosting of my laptop's HDD via an external HDD
with a USB 2.0 PC card. Unfortunately, my pavilion xf255 (early 2002 model)
is only USB 1.0 and it is not upgradable to USB 2.0 via BIOS update.

Can the original mainboard of this "old" laptop be replaced with a newer
model mainboard (replacement part for a newer model pavilion)?

if you add a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card, you will have USB 2.0
Nothing to do with the BIOS
