Just my luck, an hp laserjet 1100 that wasn't used much began to feed
multiple sheets of paper whenever I was printing. I checked the hp
website and found a kit to fix the issue but it's of course
discontinued.

Is there any way I can fix this problem myself, manually? :-(

Thanks

A 10-pound hammer applied in just the right place will do wonders for that
old boat anchor. :-/

(Like Daddy always said, "don't force it, get a bigger hammer.")

Maybe you could check out some surplus equipment sales to see if there is an
1100 worth raping for parts.

From time to time, people have been selling these kits for a couple of bucks
each on eBay, even tho HP labels them as not for sale. But you are better off
buying a commercial repair kit to restore the computer to reliable operation.
Try Moe's fix your own printer web site.

The free HP repair kit came about as the result of a class action lawsuit
brought against HP because 5L, 6L, 1100 and other printers with a vertical paper
feed were designed poorly. In other words, you are not alone in suffering with
a lousy printer... Ben Myers
